Diadophis punctatus (Non-Venomous)

Known as Ring neck snakes .They are found in hout eastern and central north america .Their range extend from nova scotia ,Southern cubic  and Ontario to South central Quibic and Ontario to south Central mexico and cover the entire Sea board except for areas along the gulf .They like areas with abundant hidding place but they occir a very huge varaity of hebitats.They need moistend soils and need 27 to 29 degrees provoding optimal conditions . Normally the northern and western snakes to cover them under stones or with the loose bark of the trees which are dead or  woodland near rocky hills.Their dorsum blue grey to light brown to greenish gray but it is always solid except of its distinctive golden ring around his neck .Their length are 25.5 cm to 46 cm.female ringneck snakes reach an average 20 cm in first year which represt a 60 percent increase in their length in second year they grow 24.5cm and in third year they reach to 29 cm.Pheromones which release from the sking of femake ring neck snakes are attract the male in season of mating.Its longest recorded life is 6years and two months.They are only active at night .they communicate other cnakes by touching rubbing and head nuzzlings .They eat small slamenders ,lizards and frogs ,earthworms and juvenile snakes of other species .When the ring neck snakes are alarmed  their tailed is coiled and raised towards the intruders .
